Vegemite is a lower-class Marmite.

Okaaaaaaaay........... What does Marmite taste like?

It looks like dark-brown meconium (new-born fæces). It tastes like salty vinegar. Heavy on the salt. FSM knows why anyone would eat the stuff. I reckon it'd do better as an engine de-greaser.

Have you ever tried Worcestershire (pronounced 'wooster') Sauce? Imagine that stuff thickened to something stiffer than frozen molasses and then half an ocean of salt added.

Oh, by the way, did I mention it's rather salty?

No no no, vegemite is delicious. Best applied with 1-inch thickness. It is rather heavy on the salt, but that's part of the appeal!

Foreigners don't like it, but I reckon its the only good thing Australia has. (Apart from the women, but every country has those.)

In fact, I'm salivating just thinking about it.

That actually sounds rather good! But keep in mind that I enjoy the smell of that goo that forms between your toes after you've been wearing the same pair of socks for a few days.

I love Worcestershire sauce!

More importantly, do you actually pronounce Worcestershire as "wooster" sauce? Because that is waaaaaay wrong. The correct pronunciation is "Whusht-shes-sure sauce". My dad actually had a decent joke about it. Here it goes:

An old southern man walks into his favorite greasy spoon restaurant and orders a steak. His friend the owner tells him about this great new steak sauce that he has created.

The man gets his steak, cuts off a piece, dips it in the sauce, and takes a bite. He says, "Mmmmmmm wu shish ere kinda sauce?".

This joke gets alot of laughs when I tell it at barbecues, but it might not translate as well across the internets and across dialects/accents.

Ohhhh. So, just like Australian women, vegemite also tastes and smells like feet!

I'm also salivating just thinking about all three!

PG, I don't get the joke; but then, being English, I pronounce the name 'wooster' because that is the original pronunciation and thus the correct one. (No wonder the other P.G. spelt Bertie's surname phonetically...)

Good grief, I bet you can't even pronounce 'Cholmondleigh' or 'Trottiscliffe' correctly!

(Chumlee and Troeslee respectively!)

The man was saying "Whats this here" kinda sauce.

This dictionary page for Worcestershire has US and Brit pronunciations for the word (look for the flags).

According to them we are both wrong.

And who the hell is this other P.G.?

Oh? Google 'Gold Coast Meter Maid'. Those smelly Australian women walk around putting money in people's meter. (You know, the parking thing.) Also note that 2007's Miss Universe, Jennifer Hawkins, was Australian. Kylie Minogue as well.

I'm not one to be at all a patriot, but vegemite and women are awesome.

P.G. Wodehouse, dear boy!

Goodness, I thought everyone was familiar with his works; almost the greatest comedic writing talent of the first half of the last century!

You are right about the pronunciation - Worcestershire should be pronounced 'wooster- sher' or 'wooster-sheer' (short 'oo' of course, like 'foot'; not long like 'boot') but it was always shortened to 'wooster' when I was growing up in England.

But it is never, never pronounced 'war - sest- er - shire'.

That does sound rather awesome. A bit messy, and I'm not sure whether vegemite comes out of sheets...
