"How is it that hardly any major religion has looked at science and concluded, 'This is better than we thought! The Universe is much bigger than our prophets said, grander, more subtle, more elegant. God must be even greater than we dreamed'? Instead they say, 'No, no, no! My god is a little god, and I want him to stay that way.'" - Carl Sagan

"To doubt everything or to believe everything are two equally convenient solutions; both dispense with the necessity of reflection." - Henri Poincaré

Sir Richard Attenborough, 90, he was eaten by a dinosaur. OK, that's not true, he was old.

She was being funny when when women were still meant to be quiet.

Never! Never, never, never, never, never, never, never, never, never, never, never, never, never..... (Swallows false teeth, falls off chair.) Never, never, never, never, never, never.... (Drops dead with hideous croak.)

Maybe now we can get a lasting peace in Ireland. One of the major obstacles has gone. Yes, I did just write that. Yes, I do mean it.

Just say it, Roy. Ex--ter---mi--nate!
I believe it's time for mankind to set aside the crutch of religion and embrace morality born of reason and truth. Those crutches have long since proven treacherous when the ground gets slippery.

RIP Joan Rivers :fsm_rock:

Queen of comedy ... that title belonged to Phylis Dyler. With self depreciation she paved the way for the far less talented Joan Rivers. Her acting was good and so was her partnership with Bob Hope. Her crazy Hair, bad cooking and FANG will always be remembered as well as her cackle. She was the first and the best of female comedians.

One line I remember being - "I do dinner in three waves: Serve the food, clear the table, bury the dead."

Rest in Peace Image

English isn't much of a language for swearing. When I studied Ancient Greek I was delighted to discover a single word - Rhaphanidosthai - which translates roughly as "Be thou thrust up the fundament with a radish for adultery."

Goodness knows where my copy of that has got to. Takes me back to the era of the dansette. RIP.
