Anyone read this. I just finished it and LOVED it. One of the best series I have ever read. Also, how many like the mufela and how many people hated them. I have heard both sides.

Very good book series, with interesting bits ranging from theology to science fiction to I forget what else, read them a long time ago... Some have hailed it as the twisted free-thinking response to The Chronicles of Narnia.

I loved it too. I tracked down a few of Pullman's other books, but they weren't as good. I don't remember them, you see. :roll:

Actually, they might be quite good. I forgot how bad my memory is. :wink:

Great books.
I liked the mufela. I know some people found them boring but I liked the idea of their evolution and society.

I liked the first two. (Cody ie. The Architect still needs to loan me the last one...

) I liked how it had this totally different world, but still managed to makes some very good statements about our world. I also like the Aesahataer. (I don't know how to make the ae thing, does anyone know?) The very idea of killing God just seems kind of interesting to me, although I don't know if that will really happen, I haven't finished the series.

I read them when i was about 12, which probably explains why i didnt totally understand everything pullman was saying. However i did enjoy the first 2 books but seem to remember finding the last rather tedious and i trhink i put it down half way through, maybe i should read them again.

I liked the Amber Spyglass best. The first one started slowly, but when I understood that the books were about Adam and Eve, God and death I started to get interested.

His Dark Materials is the shizizzle of fantasy series IMO. I enjoy the underlying meanings and religious tones. I think they're awesome. Haven't they signed a movie deal for The Golden Compass? That'll be interesting

The second and third went on an entirely different track from the first. They were like the Matrix: just as good, but too different to fit properly.

I think the whole series fleshed out nicely, a bit different, yes, but I'd give them more credit than The Matrix sequels, lol.

The difference being that I thought Reloaded and Revolutions were good, but did not go down the path Matrix did.
