Gee. How wonderful to see that my polite requests were listened to. How nice to know that someone who follows forum rules, doesn't berate people (outside of game threads), and always tries to be courteous is given a chance at a title he may actually appreciate.

Firstly: RRR, you knew what was involved when the rules were posted, you could have abstained. You obviously are not getting the point of this, and are perhaps just too prickly to be able to have a good laugh at yourself. If that's the case, we can just stop this now. Far be it for me to encourage people to not take themselves too seriously. In other words, get over yourself.

Secondly, I intentionally included that last option because you had said you liked it, despite the fact that it wasn't one I thought to be all that great. You've already been given more consideration than you should have gotten and you're still complaining. Seeing as this was something I decided to do so that the Prophets could have a little fun with each other, you seem extremely ungrateful, and I'm tempted to revoke your title out of annoyance.

I liked it! It was a close choice. It woulda been like voting for Ross Perot anyway tho, no chance of winning.


RRR: Nobody gets to pick their own nickname, that's just not how it works, ever. I had a friend who pulled it off once, he joined the army and just told all of us that "Everybody back home calls me 'Bear' " So we went with it for over a year. Then his parents came to visit, heard someone call for "bear" and they were like "who?" Dumbass made it up cause he wanted it for a nickname! Needless to say, he was "Ted" from then on, whenever we weren't calling him "shithead"

I have to say that I am honestly upset by this.

I understood the point of the game, and I brought up in the very beginning that I wasn't sure that I liked the idea, given what could happen. But I decided to go ahead with it, and asked people to be kind.

I let people know what names I liked, suggested ones based on those that had been proffered by others with the (apparently mistaken) assumption that it would give a better insight into what I was hoping for to those suggesting names so that they might find more titles that were fun and clever and entertaining without being derogatory or linguistically boring, and stated on multiple occasions that I had no desire to be saddled with a title that I disliked.

Perhaps some people don't care what title they have. If my title stays Prophet of Pastafarianism, or even disappears, that's fine by me. But I had honestly thought that by explaining my views in a polite manner that I would be listened to, and I might avoid being put into the position I now find myself in.

Should I have shouted at the top of my lungs? Should I have berated people for suggesting titles I didn't like?

I chose the higher ground, and I am saddened and angered by the lack of respect I have received for it.
