Breakaway Movements?

Postby wavering on Wed Aug 07, 2013 5:48 am

It strikes me that if FSM is to exhibit all of the aspects of a True Religion it should really have a breakaway movement (or several) composed of people whose beliefs are very slightly different from the mainstream but are all united in mutual hatred of each other.

So, are there any breakaway movements that we can all (or most of us) hate or join? If not, can I found one? Note that refusal of permission may well make me do this whereas approval will probably just make me bored and drop the idea. Or maybe not.

Personally, I believe that Highwaymen played a bigger role than Pirates and history may need to be rewritten to reflect this ...

I think you're about six years too late, but good luck with the movement: viewtopic.php?p=191283

There is, or was, also a "Reformed Church of the FSM", mentioned by Dawkins in "The God Delusion". There also seems to be a splinter-group of this, called something like "Reformed Church of Alfredo".

It would be a bit weird, having "sects".
There's not really much point in them, what with pasta coming in all sorts of shapes as it is. Moreover, look how well it works for other religions - all that happens is you get a whole bunch of people giving it the "No True Scotsman" fallacy. I'd advise looking at one of the other religions if you desperately need division.

As far as I'm concerned, we're all in the same pan here. :)

I prefer it when my movements break away of their own accord. :fsm_rock:

Are you referring to the "Shi-ite Liberation front of Poop deckers"
The smoke wafted gently in the breeze across the poop deck and all seemed right in the world.

Bart's just annoyed because there was a bitter and divisive schism, and he missed it because he was on holiday. :haha:
